Ecopro BM, a producer of cathode active materials, reported Q2 2024 revenue of 809.5 billion won, down 17% QoQ and 58% YoY. Ecopro Materials, a precursor company, reported Q2 2024 revenue of 66.7 billion won, down 16% QoQ and 77% YoY.

Ecopro Group's stock has been "continuously declining" due to the impact of Q2 performance. The poor performance, caused by the deteriorating battery industry, has become a reality. Coupled with unfavourable factors from Tesla, investor sentiment is declining. The main reasons are the reduced demand in the electric vehicle market and the resulting decrease in sales of battery materials and precursors.

Looking ahead to Q3 2024, Ecopro Group is preparing to expand its lithium sales to new customers, signing a long-term supply agreement with Samsung SDI, and expanding its cooperation with Hyundai Glovis and Cirba Solutions. The political situation in the United States, with the upcoming presidential election in November, also adds uncertainty to the electric vehicle market. If Republican presidential candidate Trump is re-elected, he may abolish electric vehicle subsidies.

SMM Daily Review: Lithium Carbonate Spot Prices Continued to Drift Lower on September 14
Today, SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate spot prices continued to drift lower compared with the previous trading day. The lithium carbonate 2701 contract opened higher at 134,500 yuan/mt today. After the open, prices consolidated higher, briefly shooting up to 135,000 yuan/mt in early trading, before encountering selling pressure from bears. Prices then moved sideways around the average price line. In the afternoon, bearish momentum strengthened, and prices gradually drifted lower, accelerating downward after breaking below the average price line to touch a low of 132,000 yuan/mt. In late trading, prices consolidated slightly at low levels, closing near 132,300 yuan/mt, ultimately ending down 1.21% at 132,300 yuan/mt, with open interest increasing by 3,985 lots. In the spot market, downstream buyers continued to buy the dip to stockpile. Some downstream spot order purchase intentions were relatively cautious, anchored around the 130,000 yuan/mt level. Upstream lithium chemical plants continued to hold spot order prices firm, with some maintaining spot order quotes at 160,000 yuan/mt.

[Solid-State: EVE Energy Granted Patent for Halide Solid Electrolyte and All-Solid-State Battery Preparation]
EVE Energy has recently been granted an invention patent titled "A Halide Solid Electrolyte, Its Preparation Method, and a Preparation Method for All-Solid-State Batteries", authorized on September 4, 2026. The patent covers a halide solid electrolyte doped with elements such as Zr, Y, In, Sc, Er or Ga, along with the process for building all-solid-state batteries with it. Halide electrolytes are seen as a key route for all-solid-state batteries thanks to high ionic conductivity and good interface compatibility, and the patent further strengthens EVE's portfolio in solid-state battery technology.
